3 Music Business Authors That You Should Know

Wassup Guys? Just wanted to introduce to a few of the people that I follow. The people mentioned below are people that give a wealth of info about the music business away for free/cheap. They are also veterans in the music industry. In today's climate, where more and more artists are going independent I've found these 3 authors to be very helpful. I urge all of you to get to know these people below, buy their book, visit their website, or at least follow them on one of their social media platforms.

Wendy Day (RapCoalaition/WendyDay.com)

You definitely want to know this lady. She's a real veteran in the music industry. She's the one that closed deal between Cash Money and Universal. Her book, How To Get A Record Deal, is a must read for new artists. She also has Youtube Channel https://www.youtube.com/user/ThisIsWendyDay, where she does interviews, answers questions, and gives guidance. If you are trying to make it in the music industry, Wendy Day is a definitely a person you should follow. She's one of the few people in which I urge every artist to watch her videos. She's definitely not going to steer you in the wrong direction.

Loren Weisman (LorenWeisman.com/BrandPrecisionMarketing)

One of the major things that up and coming artists tend to lose focus on is "Branding". If you don't have a mentor, a manager, or anybody that can give you good advice in that area, that Loren Weisman is your guy. His whole website http://www.lorenweisman.com  is dedicated to branding and marketing. If you really into it then yeah you may have to pay for consulation, but there's a wealth of information on his website for free. He also has a very good audiobook called The Artist Guide to Success in the Music Business. The book covers everything from how to book a gig, performing, recording, fundraising, branding, marketing, promotions, and so much more.

David Hooper (Musicmarketing.com/Musicianbook.com)

No reason to brand yourself if you don't have a good grasp on marketing. David Hooper has written 2 must read books. One is called the Six Figure Musician. I've read this book myself, and it will definetly have you thinking outside the box in regards into how to market your music. The other book is called, Move Your Music Forward (as of today it's out of stock on Amazon)  On top of that he has the RED Podcast show. The podcast is available on the web and as a mobile app. The podcasts goes over how to spread your message around and expand your reach.
